Don’t get drunk
Avoid excessive drinking or any other activity that could impair your judgement and decision making. There will be more occasions if the date goes well. Definitely a no-no.
Stay in your own car
Do not accept a lift to or from your date. Go home by yourself in your own car.
Don’t give away personal information on your first date. Don’t give your address or phone number. If you want to meet again we can arrange it for you at no extra fee.
Watch your drinks and belongings
Do not leave your drinks or personal belongings unattended at any time. If you go to the bathroom take your phone, bag and wallet with you. If you’ve left your drinks, leave it.
Get help if you need it
If you feel uncomfortable get help. Attract the attention of somebody around you and leave. Leave your car and get a taxi if necessary. Your safety is more important than causing offence.
Please call or email Chorlton Dating as soon as possible after the date to let us know how it went. We can arrange the second date if you would prefer it that way for no extra cost.
Meet in a public place
Always meet in a public place that you’re familiar with such as your favourite Chorlton restaurant or cafe. We provide the details for the first date of course, but keep subsequent dates to the same format until you really get to know your date.
Use our chaperone service
If you really do feel nervous about your safety user our chaperone service. We provide male or female chaperones as appropriate to your needs.
Gossip with your friends
We arrange your first date so we know where you are but please tell friends or family where you are going, what time you are meeting and how long you expect to be. Let your date know you are doing this as a courtesy.
Keep your mobile phone with you and switched on at all times. If you change location let your friends and family know. Arrange to have a friend call you at a specific time to check how things are going. If you need to leave the call will give you an excuse.
Behaviour and body language
Watch your dates’ body language. If they are sitting up, leaning towards you and showing interest in you as well as maintaining eye contact you are on to a winner. Shows of anger, frustration or attempts to pressure you should set off alarm bells.
We can arrange the second date for you at no extra cost. If you choose to do this yourself meet at a time and on a day that’s convenient for you. Avoid late nights or strange locations.
